'Schwinn Ride' painting
I've decided it's done. So here it is, 'Schwinn Ride', acrylic painting on a gallery wrapped canvas, 30 x 24 inches. Thanks for looking!

ps. and if it's really a Roadmaster, we are calling it a Schwinn anyway.

daily paint, shoes match
The sun has set for this day in Spencer, Iowa. It was a good one at the easel. I am really having fun with this painting, so I thought I should upload the day's progress on it for you. There is potentially some bad news though. What I have assumed is a Schwin now appears to be a Roadmaster. Will it affect the outcome? Tune in tomorrow---yadayadayada:) Yeah, but at least her shoes match now.

life drawing, November 12th, 2007
-just a quick trip by with mr. camera-- Our life drawing group did manage to meet last night, but did not get our normal two hours in. We spent about an hour on gesture drawings, and then had about 40 minutes left for a longer pose.

---therein lies my excuse :) for completion or the lack thereof! and yes we did give her a chair. Use your imagination! I am disappointed that I so misjudged the horizontal of the pose, it really threw off any hopes of composing the canvas well. Now, if I can just remember that lesson for next time----!

projects advance! daily paint, November 12th, 2007
The sun is peeking throught the grey here in northwest Iowa, and the paint has been flying! I started the morning here:

blocking in a bicyclist. I think she's riding an old Schwinn, or so it seems at this point:) I decided that was a good warm-up, set it aside (fancy term for 'off the easel' and 'onto the floor') and then took another look at the two women in the 50's style lawn chairs. The person on the right asked for a screaming red dress, I obliged. I still have an hour or two before time to head to life drawing group, will try to push this one a bit closer to that happy-done stage.

daily paint, November 10th, 2007
-Just a quick stop by to upload today's daily paint slinging episode for the current project. Yes, I'm still working on the canvas with the two women
seated on vintage 50's lawn chairs. I had to reposition the figure on the right
today. I had her stretched waaaaaay taller on the canvas than she actually
ought to have been:) I am eager to start the next idea which is a bicycle
rider on an old Schwinn. There is a serious possibility of working on two at
the same time happening here!

Sanford Gallery, Cherokee, Iowa
Today was spent with the current painting of two figures seated on vintage 50's lawn chairs. It's going to work! Yea! Yesterday at this time I was ready to give up on it, but good progress was made today. I would upload a photo of that progress, except the camera is at the skate park (!) Sigh.
I do have a photo from the Sanford Gallery, Cherokee, Iowa, where my solo show is currently hanging. Thanks for visiting!

Sanford Gallery- Art Wall, Cherokee, Iowa
Hello,
I've decided to give you an exhibit update. I wrote on my journel blog about my exhibit at the Sanford Gallery in Cherokee, and decided to give you an update here as well. The Sanford Gallery in Cherokee, Iowa has a 32 foot wall for showing paintings. This month, November, is a solo show of my work, predominantly figurative paintings. It's really kind of exciting seeing paintings in that kind of an arrangement. Seldom do I
have the chance to display them all together at that perfect height! The paintings included in this post are my three most recent figurative paintings, that are part of the Sanford Gallery exhibit. Enjoy!

A Bit Of Daily Paint, Straight On
As this is supposed to be my ongoing project blog, I fully intended to start right in with the painting already resting on the easel this morning. However, as I had not spent much time there since Thursday, I decided to putsy around with something a bit more nonchalent first. Yup, time to grab another of those canvases leaning on the wall since who knows when.:) It's one of the multitude started at studio, and then brought home to join the rest of the lowly unfinished! But I had fun with this one, sometimes when the brush is flying fast, just because, interesting things happen. What do you think?
